After going down in the three-match Test series against New Zealand 2-0 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune on Saturday, October 26, the Men in Blue are set to undergo strict and mandatory practice sessions. On Saturday, the Rohit Sharma-led Team India registered their first-ever Test series defeat against the Kiwis as they lost the second Test by 113 runs after earlier losing the first Test by eight wickets in Bengaluru.

After this heartbreaking defeat, reports have revealed that the Indian team management has informed that players that there will not be any optional training session, whereas the players will have to be present for all practice sessions ahead of the third and final Test of the series, set to take place from November 1 to 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. 

Team India to undergo mandatory practice sessions ahead of Mumbai Test vs NZ

According to the reports quoting The Indian Express, the team management has cleared the players of the optional training and have asked them to be available for the two compulsory sessions instead. The report quoting The Indian Express has added that most of the players will arrive in Mumbai on October 27, followed by which they will be given a two-day break to energise themselves.

Thereafter, the Indian team will undergo two-day practice session on October 30 and 31 before taking on Tom Latham-led New Zealand in the final Test, starting November 1 in Mumbai. This decision by the Indian team management comes seeing India’s horrific result and crushing defeat against the Kiwis. A source informed The Indian Express as quoted by OneCricket, “The team management has asked the players to be present for two days of practice on October 30 and 31. It’s compulsory and no one can skip it.”
