Preview

The match 21 of the Men’s Hundred will see Oval Invincibles play against their city rivals London Spirit at The Oval. After playing five matches in the league, the Invincibles have a two-point lead at top of the points table. Meanwhile, the Spirit have earned only one win in the competition, sitting in the bottom half of the ladder. Both these teams will take on each other on August 15, not only to make the gains in the Men’s Hundred, but also to attain some bragging rights in the city of London.

Pitch Report

The Oval is one of the best pitches for batters to get big runs in T20 cricket, because it allows them the opportunity to play strokes on the up against fast bowlers and spinners alike. Furthermore, one corner of the venue is relatively short compared to other parts, which could be an easy target for batters to get big returns, especially in the death overs.

Team Analysis

Oval Invincibles

Oval Invincibles openers Jason Roy and Will Jacks have done exemplary well for the side with the bat in hand, to help post big totals consistently in the Men’s Hundred 2023. The injury to Jordan Cox during the loss to BP, is a big blow for the Invincibles, but they will be hoping for new players to step up in his place for the remainder of the tournament. In the bowling department, Sunil Narine is also expected to leave Oval Invincibles, but they will get a huge boost of Adam Zampa in his place for the rest of the Men’s Hundred.

London Spirit

The first win of the Men’s Hundred this season for London Spirit came on the back of a great fifty from their captain Dan Lawrence against Trent Rockets. He was ably supported by ever reliable Zak Crawley at the top of the order, before Daryl Mitchell and Ravi Bopara finished off the innings well. In the bowling department, Daniel Worrall and Liam Dawson stepped up to the plate for London Spirit, helping them win a close contest at Lord’s earlier this week.

Conclusion

Although Oval Invincibles are on top of the Men’s Hundred points table, they are plagued with availability issues in regard to their big players. With no such problems, London Spirit will definitely have a great chance to make the play against their city rivals with the bat, ball, and in the field, on August 15.
