Indian cricket fans reacted and slammed the management for dropping KL Rahul from the playing XI of the second Test against New Zealand. Notably, after registering a historic defeat against New Zealand in the opening game of the series, Rohit Sharma and Co. were up against their counterparts for the second game. The sides locked horns in the second Test beginning on October 24 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. India had registered a Test loss against New Zealand in a home game for the first time in 36 years. In the second match, the side would aim to level the series to continue their 12-year home-win streak in the longest format.
The playing XI of the second Test saw the snub of KL Rahul, and he was replaced by Shubman Gill, who missed the series opener due to a stiff neck. Rahul scored 0 and 12 runs in both the innings, respectively, and his spot was in danger after Sarfaraz Khan came up with an incredible knock of 150 runs. Khan was chosen over Rahul, despite the fact that the Indian management, especially head coach Gautam Gambhir backed the latter a day ahead during the press conference.
Fans criticise Indian management for dropping KL Rahul despite backing him earlier
The fact that Rahul was not picked despite Gambhir backing him in front of the media didn’t sit well with fans, and they took to X to slam the management for the same.
