The undisputed heavyweight championship fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk has been rescheduled for May 18, announced by Turki Alalshikh, the Chairman of the Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority on the MMA Hour show. The highly anticipated matchup was initially scheduled for February 17, but it was postponed due to Tyson Fury suffering a cut above his right eye.
At the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Englishman Tyson Fury, the WBC Heavyweight Champion will be taking on the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, holding the WBA Super, IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring Heavyweight Champion in the upcoming summer. When the rescheduled date of May 18 was announced, Turki Alalshikh was seated alongside Tyson Fury, while Oleksandr Usyk and his manager Egis Klimas also joined the MMA Hour show hosted by Ariel Helwani.

Before announcing the rescheduled date for the fight, Alalshikh spoke about how both Fury and Usyk want it, and said, “If I had 1% thought he (Tyson Fury) is cheating, I would not seat here. I know this guy from inside, and I know Usyk from his heart. They both want this fight and want the fans to see it. It happened, it happened before and maybe happy in the future. For that, we guarantee on the 18th of May, and this is the important thing, to have big fight.”
After both Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk agreed to their fight happening on May 18, Turki Alalshikh also remarked that if either of the fighters withdraws, he must forfeit $10 million from his purse. Furthermore, in this specific case, one of the fighters, available to compete on the said date, will get a new opponent for themselves.
Meanwhile, when Tyson Fury was called a coward by Egis Klimas, he responded, “Never a coward, never backed down from any man in my entire life.” The Gypsy King was also unhappy with Egis Klimas for going after his wife with derogatory remarks.
