India are crowned champions of the inaugural edition of the U19 Women’s  T20 Asia Cup after defeating Bangladesh by 41 runs in the final at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, December 22. Opening batter Gongadi Trisha was adjudged player of the match for her match-winning half-century. Batting first, India  posted 117/7 in their 20 overs, while Bangladesh were bowled out for 76 runs in 18.3 overs. 

Coming to bat after losing the toss, India lost two wickets early at the score of 25 runs in five overs against Bangladesh. After that, Gongadi Trisha and skipper Niki Prasad added 41 runs for the third wicket. Prasad got out after scoring just 12(21) runs, while Trisha top scored with 52 runs off 47 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes. Mithila Vinod gave finishing touches to the Indian innings with 17(12) runs, while Aayushi Shukla scored 10(13) runs.

India ended up posting 117 runs on the board for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. For Bangladesh, Farjana Easmin registered figures of 4/31, while Nishita Akter Nishi scalped two and Habiba Islam put one in her bag. Chasing the winning total, Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals, and were bowled out for 76 runs with nine balls to spare.

Juairiya Ferdous was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 22(30) runs, while Fahomida Choya also scored 18(24). Apart from that, none of the other batters could cross the 10-run mark. For India, Aayushi Shukla registered figures of 3/17. Apart from that, Parunika Sisodia and Sonam Yadav scalped two wickets each, while VJ Joshitha put one in her bag.
