Founder of the WWE and Executive Chairman of the TKO Group, Vince McMahon resigned from his roles following trafficking and assault allegations. As per the reports by Deadline, former WWE employee Janel Grant accused him of sexual assault and physical abuse. Not only this, but Grant also revealed that McMahon tried to pay her a sum of USD 3 million to keep their relationship quiet in 2022 if she agreed to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

However, Grant later revealed that she received only $1 million, not the entire amount. Nick Khan, President of the WWE, confirmed McMahon’s resignation and said, “Vince McMahon has tendered his resignation from his positions as TKO Executive Chairman and on the TKO Board of Directors. He will no longer have a role with TKO Group Holdings or WWE.” The news came after Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson joined TKO's Board of Directors this week after several rumours.

McMahon denies allegations of sexual assault

Vince McMahon denied all the allegations against him and said that he resigned out of respect for the WWE fraternity. In a released statement, the 78-year-old said, “I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth. I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations, and look forward to clearing my name.”

“However, out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO business and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents, and all of the employees and Superstars who helped make WWE into the global leader it is today, I have decided to resign from my executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effective immediately.”
