Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior on Tuesday, January 7 was handed a two-match ban following his red card last week in match against Valencia. The incident unfolded when the Brazilian winger shoved goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski in the back of the neck after he was pushed.
However, the incident didn’t affect them much as the Spanish champions came from behind to beat Valencia 2-1 at latter’s home turf to go to the top of the La Liga standings with 43 points to their name. Coming back to Vinicius Jr’s violent conduct, Spanish FA (RFEF) on Tuesday, applied article 130.2 for the Brazilian winger, which categorises the incident as “mild offence”.
Vinicius Jr clear to play Spanish Super Cup on Thursday against Mallorca
After being at fault under Article 130.2, Vinicius Junior will miss Real Madrid’s next two matches, where they are set to face Las Palmas and Real Valladolid on January 19 and January 26 respectively. However, since the Article 130.2 is only applied to La Liga matches, the 24-year-old will remain available for the Spanish Super Cup semi-final.
Real Madrid is set to take on Mallorca in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup on January 10 in Saudi Arabia. This penalty comes as a blow for the Los Blancos, who have been awarded a total of ten penalties this season with three different players. While Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr have all taken their turns, the Brazilian boasts the most impressive record.
