Not only these emotions included players break down in tears but also saw the Men in Blue lifting their Head Coach Rahul Dravid up in the air to capture the moment for the billions.

On Saturday, June 29, Team India finally ended their trophy drought and lifted the T20 World Cup in Barbados, ending their 17-year wait. These celebrations were nothing short of a moment that will be cherished for years to come. The video was later shared by the International Cricket Council and the T20 World Cup.

Watch Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma lead way to lift Rahul Dravid in fairytale ending:

This was a journey of 2 years: Rahul Dravid after India’s win

Speaking after Team India’s win in Barbados, Rahul Dravid said, “This was a journey of 2 years, this T20 World Cup. The construction of this team and the kind of skills we wanted, the players we wanted. The discussions started when I started in 2021…. this is not the work of just this World Cup… It feels like a journey of 2 years.”

“As a player, I was not lucky enough to win a trophy but I gave my best… I was lucky enough to be given an opportunity to coach a team, I was lucky that this bunch of boys made it possible for me to be able to win this trophy. It is a great feeling, it is not like I was aiming for some redemption, it was the job I was doing…. it has been a great journey,” he further added.

It is to be noted that under Rahul Dravid’s mentorship, Team India played three consecutive ICC finals, including the World Test Championship in 2023, the ODI World Cup in the same year and the T20 World Cup 2024.
