India are set to lock horns with Australia in the highly-anticipated five-match Test series which goes by the name Border Gavaskar Trophy. India, the two-time WTC finalists have reached the Aussie land and are sweating it out in intense net sessions for the forthcoming series. The team under the leadership of Rohit Sharma needs to secure a 4-0 win over their rivals to make it to the WTC final for the third consecutive time. The Indian team features one of the greatest batters Virat Kohli, who shares a different kind of love story with the Baggy Greens.
Kohli has been going through a slump in his performance and the batter hasn’t been able to display much batting prowess off late. The 36-year-old has had a poor series when India hosted New Zealand for the three-match Test series which resulted in India’s historic whitewash at home. Virat Kohli has played a total of 24 matches in the series against Australia where he has accumulated 1979 runs at an average of 48.26. He has recorded eight centuries and five half-centuries in the elite series. With his impressive figures, Kohli is currently fifth on the list of Indian batters with most runs against Australia in the series. He is just behind veteran Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara, who has accumulated 2033 runs in 24 games in the series.
Legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar sits atop of the list with 3262 runs from 34 matches in the series. If Kohli scores 54 runs in the first match of the series, he will surpass Pujara in the list and secure the fourth spot. Speaking of his best performance, the batter came up with 186 runs in the Ahmedabad Test during the BGT 2022-23. Kohli made a magnificent 186 off 364 balls and was supported by Axar Patel’s 79 to give the side a draw in the game.
