Former India skipper Virat Kohli has fan followers not only bound to India, but the star has a flamboyant personality with several former cricketers also heaping praise of the stalwart time and again. Recently, the star batter was hailed by former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, who even extended an invitation to Kohli to visit Pakistan.
Afridi recently spoke about Virat Kohli at a tape ball event in Karachi on Saturday, May 18, just ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru versus Chennai Super Kings match in IPL 2024. "Virat Kohli’s statement showed that such cricketers are the ambassadors of their country. I had expected the same kind of statement from Virat Kohli. Thank you so much, Virat. We are waiting for you to come to Pakistan and play in PSL or with the Indian team. It would be good if you came with the Indian team," Afridi said.
It is to be noted that these comment from the former Pakistan cricketer come after Kohli cited his interest in visiting Pakistan during a video call with mountaineer Shehroze Kashif in 2022. “Give my regard to your family and all your friends. Hopefully, we visit Pakistan soon; everyone’s started visiting now,” he said as quoted by Times Now.
Earlier, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma also expressed his interest in playing a Test series against Pakistan. It is to be noted that India and Pakistan haven’t played any bilateral series since 2008 due to politically strained issues and terror incidents. The two arch-rivals meet only in ICC tournaments.
