Jon Moxley retained AEW World Championship despite the gruesome incident

When his Deathrider ally Wheeler Yuta and the referee struggled to pull out the Spike from the body, Jon Moxley’s skin got stretched as the cameras cut away from showcasing the scene live. After the Spike was removed from Jon Moxley’s back, the medical team checked on him, and in the meantime, chaos ensued inside the right, which ultimately benefited the champion.

At the very end, Jon Moxley managed to retain the AEW World Championship against Cope, with the assistance from his Deathrider allies Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli (Cesaro), and PAC (Neville). With that, the group also got revenge from Cope for taking them out of action on the road to Revolution, and the latter’s attempt at winning the title went in vain.
