On the latest WWE SmackDown episode from the MVP Arena in Albany, New York, AJ Styles brutally attacked Cody Rhodes after setting up the Undisputed WWE Champion with a fake retirement tease. The Phenomenal One delivered a Mark Henry-esque retirement speech, bringing out Cody Rhodes to the squared circle before letting his hidden intentions known to everyone.
After arriving in a powder blue suit to WWE SmackDown, AJ Styles met with the General Manager, Nick Aldis, and said that he would like to address his wrestling future. The former WWE Champion runs into his fierce opponent LA Knight backstage, who tells him that if the rumours are true in regards to his impending retirement, then he has his respect.
In the backstage area, Cody Rhodes also shakes the hand of AJ Styles, who whispers something in his ear and the Undisputed WWE Champion nods.
After making his entrance inside the MVP Arena alongside Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, the Good Brothers, AJ Styles takes to the mic to talk about how he can’t go to the back of the line to get a chance at Cody Rhodes and the Undisputed WWE Champion. He also wondered whether it’s time to stay at home and be a phenomenal father after attending the graduation party of his son.
AJ Styles also thanked Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson before calling out Cody Rhodes to be inside the ring. After they talked about their championship match from Backlash last month, Rhodes let Styles soak in the fan adulation before he was brutally attacked by the Phenomenal One.
