After India were reduced to 213/9 in reply to Australia’s first innings total of 445 runs, Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah took charge in their own hands with the bat and put up a crucial partnership 39 runs before the end day in the ongoing third Test at Gabba, Brisbane. Akash Deep remained unbeaten on 27*(31) along with Bumrah’s 10*(27) runs as India successfully avoided the follow-on against the hosts.

During his knock, Akash Deep also showed his prowess with the bat gifted to him by Virat Kohli. The right-hander first smashed the Australian skipper with a four towards third man on the second ball of the 75th over. After a couple of deliveries, Akash Deep went on to smash Cummins for a huge six that went on to the second tier of the stadium. His six got an animated reaction from Kohli from the dressing room. 

Ravindra Jadeja saves Indian collapse with 77-run knock on day four

Talking about the match, India started day four with 51/4 with KL Rahul and skipper Rohit Sharma at the crease. Rohit failed to scored a big knock again as he got out after scoring 10(27) runs. After that the, Ravindra Jadeja joined Rahul at the crease as the duo put up a partnership of 67 runs for the sixth wicket, Jadeja took charge of the innings after Rahul got out after 84(139) runs. 

Ravindra Jadeja added 53 runs with Nitish Kumar Reddy for the seventh as India were closer to 200 runs. The left-hander got out after scoring 77 runs off 123 ball hitting seven four and a six. After that, Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah added 39 runs for the 10th wicket as India finished day four on 252/9 with 193 runs behind Australia.
