West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell once proved his power-hitting ability on Saturday in the ongoing 6IXTY tournament. During the fixture between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, and Trinbago Knight Riders, Russell smashed 72 runs off 24 balls.
The main highlight of this match was when the West Indian all-rounder smashed six sixes in a row and completely turned the game in Trinbago Knight Riders’ favour. The TKR were put to bat first and made the most out of the given opportunity.
In the 7th over facing Dominic Drakes, Russell smashed the first six on the third delivery and continued the barrage as he sent the next three deliveries all over the ground and reached his half-century in just 17 balls.
He then continued his carnage in the 8th over, when Jon-Russ Jaggesar came to bowl, Russell hit sixes on his first few balls to complete his six sixes. He then went on to hit a boundary on the third ball. The Patriots finally managed to get Russell out as he was caught by Duan Jansen on the last ball of the over.

In the 6IXTY tournament, each batting team has six wickets instead of the regular ten and also can "unlock" a floating third powerplay over by hitting two sixes in the initial two-over powerplay. Teams are set to bowl five consecutive overs without changing an end as there is no switching of ends after each over. If the bowling fails to complete their 10 overs within 45 minutes, a fielder will be removed for the final six balls.
