Delhi Capitals’ spinning wizard Axar Patel took a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Ishan Kishan during their IPL 2024 clash. Mumbai Indians took on Rishabh Pant-led side in the 20th fixture of the tournament on April 7, Sunday, at the Wankhede Stadium. The visiting skipper won the toss and invited the rivals to put the score on the board first. Mumbai, who came into the match without having recorded any wins in the tournament, got off to a brilliant start.
Former skipper Rohit Sharma and youngster Ishan Kishan gave the side a favourable start and Mumbai seemed to have maintained dominance over their rivals. The five-time IPL winners lost Sharma on the last ball of the seventh over and the Capitals got their much-needed breakthrough. Shortly after losing Suryakumar Yadav on a duck, Patel took their much-needed wicket in the form of Ishan Kishan.
On the se cond ball of the 11th over, Patel tossed one into the slot and Kishan blasted the ball over mid-wicket for a maximum. However, with his sharp reflexes, the DC bowler slid in and caught the ball with his left hand. Kishan, who was nearing his half-century was forced to walk back at 23-ball 42.
Pandya, who has been making headlines off late for all unwanted reasons said during the toss, “We don't want to put pressure onto us, but one win will give us a lot of confidence. Almost 18,000 young people are supporting us today, we're here to represent them and want them to go back home with a smile.”
