Bayern Munich ran through Barcelona with a 3-0 win at Camp Nou on Wednesday and advanced to the Champions League round of 16 as group winners. But even before the match, Xavi Hernandez's side had no chance of reaching the knockout round for the second year in a row after Inter Milan defeated Viktoria Plzen 4-0 on Monday.

But during the Blaugrana’s defeat, a hilarious moment sprouted up where Bayern fans took centre-stage. The Munich fans at Camp Nou were seen chanting the name of former Barca star Lionel Messi, who left the club couple of years ago. Since then the Catalans have never reached the round of 16 in the UCL.

Reacting to the defeat, Xavi had a brazen reaction as he expressed that his team can’t compete on this level. He further addressed that the team kicked off the season with high expectations but has now suffered a massive disappointment.  "We have to face our new reality, today we didn't even have the level to compete," Xavi said after the match.

"I believe today the psychological side weighed on us, going into the game knowing that we were already out. "We started the season with very high expectations, but ended up in a very complicated group and didn't manage to be at the necessary level to compete with them. It's a huge disappointment."
