BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar and Secretary Jay Shah met the selection committee to pick the T20 World Cup 2024 squad. The BCCI officials met to finalise the 15-member squad for the forthcoming marquee assignments. The 2024 edition of the global tournament is set to begin on June 2 (IST) and will come to a conclusion on June 29 in the USA and West Indies. The teams participating in the tournament have a deadline of May 1 to submit the names of their squad members for the same.
With the deadline to announce the squad approaching, It appears that the BCCI is all set to reveal the team on April 30, Tuesday. According to the latest developments and media reports, Secretary Jay Shah and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar met other officials on Tuesday. In the latest video surfaced, Shah and Agarkar could be seen reaching the ITC Narmada Hotel in Ahmedabad for the Selection Committee meeting. Hence, it can be expected that the final team that will travel to the USA and West Indies will be out soon.
Shubman Gill unlikely to be picked for T20 World Cup 2024 squad: Reports
India’s emerging batting power Shubamn Gill is reportedly unlikely to be picked for the official squad of the T20 World Cup. Ahead of the tournament, he said that if he wasn’t picked, he would cheer for the team from home. Sports Tak quoted Gill as saying, “Obviously as a player, I want to be there and play the World Cup and get that opportunity to represent my country at the highest level – the biggest stage of T20 cricket.”
He added, “Having played in a World Cup last year, I have had my share of experiences, and it would be great to be able to play another World Cup. But I am not thinking that far ahead. I have scored almost 900 runs last season and if I had to be picked, I will be picked if not (then) best of luck to those who are picked”
