England Test captain, Ben Stokes suffered a horrific injury during his team, Northern Superchargers ' The Hundred fixture against the Manchester Originals on Sunday, August 11. The England star player suffered a suspected hamstring injury while attempting a quick single while plying his trade for Northern Superchargers at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. 

The incident occurred on the 12th delivery of the run-chase as he was seen collapsing in sheer pain and frustration after the pull in his left hamstring. Soon after the incident, Harry Booker, the strength and conditioning coach and James Pipe, the physiotherapist rushed to the field to check on Stokes and assisted him off the field, followed by stretching him towards the ambulance.

However, the England cricketer was seen in the dugout after undergoing scans with crutches on. Later after Superchargers’ seven-wicket win, skipper Harry Book also opened up on the severity on the injury. “It doesn’t look great unfortunately but I think he’ll be getting a scan tomorrow and see how he is,” Brook told Sky Sports as quoted by ICC. Meanwhile a representative of the team further added that further updates will be available later on Monday.

Ben Stokes doubtful for opening Test vs Sri Lanka

The 33-year-old England skipper, Ben Stokes is considered doubtful for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka after he sustained a hamstring injury during the Hundred men’s competition on Sunday. However, an update on his injury is yet to come, if he remains ruled out of the opening Test, Ollie Pope could lead England. 

Speaking of Stokes’ injuries, the 33-year-old returned to bowling during the West Indies series after injuries robbing him of bowling during the Ashes series against Australia last year.
