Australia and Pakistan squared off against each other in the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 on Friday and the Kangaroos won the fixture by 62 runs as David Warner and Mitchell Marsh fired all cylinders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. While Warner scored 163 runs, birthday boy Mitch Marsh scored 121 off 108 and received wishes from the Bengaluru crowd during his fielding.

Batting first, Australia posted a huge total of 337 runs at a loss of nine wickets with Warner and Marsh combining for a 259-run stand for the first wicket. Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up a fifer while Haris Rauf took three wickets but went for 83 runs in his eight overs. On the other hand, Pakistan failed to chase the target as Adam Zampa picked up a four-wicket haul while Pat Cummins and Marcus Stoinis took two wickets each.

During Australia's bowling, Mitchell Marsh was fielding at the boundary when the crowd started cheering him and wished 'Happy Birthday' to the Australian opening all-rounder. In a viral video on social media, the Bengaluru fans can be heard singing "Happy Birthday to you," and the 32-year-old Marsh acknowledged the wishes by waving his hand towards fans.

While the Aussies returned to their form after losing their opening two matches in the World Cup, Pakistan contrastingly lost their two back-to-back matches after commencing their CWC 2023 campaign with two victories in their first two games. Apart from Afridi and Iftikhar Ahmed, the Pakistani bowlers went for huge runs as Warner and Marsh combined for 24 fours and 18 sixes in the match.

In their next fixture, Australia are scheduled to face the Netherlands at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, October 25. On the other hand, Pakistan will take on Afghanistan at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday, October 23.
