In the first match of the IPL 2024 double-header Sunday (April 21), the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are hosting the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their reverse fixture at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. While it was the visiting captain, Faf du Plessis, who once again came out on top in Kolkata, here, RCB invited KKR to put the score first on the board.
After being put to bat first, Philip Salt and Sunil Narine gave a quick start but the RCB stuck to their plans and broke the opening partnership in the fifth over. While it was the first 50-plus run partnership for KKR since 2022, after Salt’s departure, Yash Dayal dismissed Narine with Virat Kohli completing a catch at the long-off.
The third wicket for KKR came in Yash Dayal’s second and sixth of KKR inning. Cameron Green, who had his eyes on the ball, back-tracked and completed a one-handed stunner to dismiss Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Green jumped in air to catch the ball, which was coming over his right shoulder, to put KKR on the backfoot.
