Chennai Super Kings fans paid a special tribute to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in the eighth minute of the clash against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024. Chennai and Gujarat locked horns in the seventh clash of the tournament on March 26, Tuesday, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, better known as Anbuden, among the Yellow Army fans. 

During the game, CSK fans gave a standing ovation to Ravindra Jadeja for his services over the years and his heroics against GT in the IPL 2023 final. The eighth minute symbolised his jersey number, and the second game in Chennai was selected as Jadeja played an invaluable inning and smashed a maximum and boundary in the last two balls of the IPL 2023 against Gujarat Titans. It was due to his innings that Chennai won their fifth IPL title.

The gesture signified fans’ appreciation for the all-rounder’s invaluable contribution to the CSK campaign last year and in past editions. The 35-year-old joined the Chennai-based franchise in 2012 and has been a loyal player to the side. Over the years, he played 174 matches for the five-time IPL winners, where he scored 3749 runs, averaging at 27.67 while scalping 152 wickets. 

Talking about CSK’s campaign in the IPL 2024, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side played the first match of the tournament against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22.
