The Norwegian chess grandmaster, whose fellow countryman Erling Haaland plays under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, is an ardent football fan. Also, Magnus Carlsen has been one of the top players in the Fantasy Premier League game for years.
As per the Chess.com website, the 33-year-old paid a visit to the Etihad Stadium sometime ago, to watch Manchester City play, but his club fandom lies with the Spanish giants Real Madrid. Magnus Carlsen was happy to detail his childhood days in regards to chess and football, talking about how he loved the beautiful game before making the board game his own. He said, “I have loved football since I was little. I played it every day. I did not come home from school; I just stayed at the school to play football. Then I came home to play chess. It turned out that I was better at chess, so I continued to do that.”
