The last 16 match between tennis ace Andy Murray and Taylor Fritz saw slight halt at the Citi Washington Open 2023 on Friday, August 4. With Fritz leading the opening set 3-1, the match saw a sudden halt as environment protesters present at the court threw oversized balls.
Continuing their trend in all major sporting events across the globe, the tournament in Washington was the latest to be spoiled by the environmental activists. The match also saw some protesters displaying banner in the stands. However, soon after they threw giant balls onto the court, they were escorted from the stands as the two players took their seats.

Although minutes later the tournament spokesperson addressed the issue and cleared that no damage was sustained to the court.
Talking about the match, the Brit saw a frustrating start as he was even see smashing his racket on the floor after a tough start against the American. Despite his first set win, Murray crashed out of the competition, losing 6-7, 6-3, 6-4.
