Utah Jazz’s point guard Collin Sexton elbowed Giannis Antetokounmpo during the encounter against Milwaukee Bucks on February 5, Monday (IST). The match saw Jazz registering a 123-108 victory over their counterparts at the Delta Center. Antetokounmpo was sent to the ground after getting elbowed by Sexton, leading to a heated brawl between Bucks’ Malik Beasley and Sexton.
The incident occurred in the game's second quarter, when the Bucks were on a double-digit run, leading 61-48 at the 1:17 mark. The 29-year-old was guarding Sexton at the baseline near the Bucks’ bench. However, the 25-year-old guard made a quick move and lowered his shoulder near Antetokounmpo’s jaw, which made him fall.
Antetokounmpo’s injury leads to major brawl between Sexton and Beasley
After the Greek fell on the ground and was wincing in pain, the Georgian was seen taunting him. Malik Beasley didn’t like what he saw and ran from the opposite side of the court to confront Sexton. After this, Sexton and the hosts confronted Beasley, leading to the stoppage of the game. Both players had to be separated by their respective teams, and following this, the officials slapped them with technical fouls.
Giannis Antetokounmpo then walked up to the bench and indicated that the injury wasn’t serious. He finished the game with 33 points, 13 assists, and seven rebounds and remained the highest scorer for his side. On the flip side, Sexton scored 19 points with three assists and one rebound.
