Portuguese football great Cristiano Ronaldo, who is also regarded as one of the best athletes across the world, has achieved another milestone. Ronaldo became the first player in the history of the sport to score a free-kick every season for 23 seasons. The footballer achieved the feat during Al-Nassr’s clash against Al-Feiha, where the former achieved a 4-1 victory over their rivals in the second round of the Saudi Pro League 2024-25 season.
The goal turned out to be Ronaldo’s 899th career goal and with this, he moved a step closer to the historic 900 career goals achievement. Not only this, but the 39-year-old is also just one free-kick away from tying his arch-rival Lionel Messi for the most goals scored from free-kicks. Messi is currently at 65 free-kicks. Ronaldo made his professional debut for Sporting Club de Portugal in 2002, and since then, has netted a free-kick in each of his seasons for 23 years successively.
In his stint with Al-Nassr, the Portugal footballer has scored 44 goals with 13 assists in 45 matches for the Saudi side in the previous season. In the current season, his tally already reads four goals. Talking about the game, apart from the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, his teammates Talisca and Marcelo Brozovic also came up with goals. Talisca scored two goals for the side to guide the Riyadh-based club to a win.
The win marked Al-Nassr’s first win of the season after they ended up in a 1-1 draw in the opener against Al-Raed.
