Manchester United was stunned by Unai Emery’s Aston Villa at Villa Park as the hosts registered a dominant 3-1 win. The Villans took an early lead thanks to Leon Bailey’s clinical finish in the seventh minute. Four minutes Lucas Digne doubled Aston Villa's lead with a brilliant free kick.

But the biggest highlight for Manchester United was when their captain for the fixture Cristiano Ronaldo was seen entangled in a grappling match with Villa defender Tyrone Mings. Both players didn’t let go of each other before other players got involved to separate the pair. Soon referee Anthony Taylor intervened and  Ronaldo and Mings were given yellow cards each.

Going back the to match, Luke Shaw’s deflected effort just before half-time gave the Reds Devils a glimmer of hope. But moments in the second half, Jacob Ramsey scored an incredible goal to seal the game and register Unai Emery’s first win as Aston Villa manager.

Reacting to the defeat, Man United manager Erik Ten Hag was unhappy with the result. He believes that his players didn’t play to the highest level and hence lost the game. He said, "We lose the game start of the first half and second half, that is unacceptable. They looked more fresh, more ready. After a long time, this has happened, I said it was up to us.”

He continued, “We didn't keep the ball, we didn't get the right organisation, didn't follow the rules and lost battles. "The result is clear, it never lies. In football, you always get your own earnings. Today we were not good enough."
