Cricket fans at the Mulpani cricket stadium erupted in cheers as Nepal qualified for the T20 World Cup 2024. The Nepali team booked their spot in the forthcoming ICC tournament as they beat the UAE in the T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier on Friday, November 3. This marks Nepal’s return to the T20 competition after a gap of 10 years. The last time that they played in the T20 World Cup was in the 2014 edition in Bangladesh.
Two teams from the Asia Qualifier were set to qualify for the mega event, and after winning their respective semifinals, Oman and Nepal registered their berth in the 2024 edition of the tournament in the USA and West Indies. Oman defeated Bahrain in another semifinal of the tournament by a 10-wicket margin to register themselves in the WC 2024. UAE skipper Muhammad Waseem won the toss and let his side post the score on the board first.

The UAE posted a target of 135 for their rivals to chase, which the Rohit Paudel-led side successfully chased in 17.1 overs. Nepal opener Aasif Sheikh remained not out with 64 runs in 51 balls, he was accompanied by the skipper on the crease. Paudel played an unbeaten knock of 34 runs in 20 balls to chase the target and win the match by eight wickets.
Other than them, Gulshan Jha contributed 22 runs to the total while Kushal Bhurtel made 11 runs. The victory marked Nepal’s entry into the T20 World Cup 2024 for the second time.
