In the 26th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are hosting the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Earlier in the match, it was the hosts, KL Rahul-led LSG that won the toss and elected to bat first.
Despite a decent start from the skipper KL Rahul, who played a 22-ball 39-run knock, the middle order failed to capitalise before Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan stitched a crucial eighth wicket partnership to help the side post 167/7 in their 20 overs. In pursuit of the 168-run target, it was DC openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner who took the guards in the middle.
After some early hiccups, it was David Warner whose innings was cut short after he was involved in a bizarre dismissal. With KL introducing last match starrer Yash Thakur into the attack, he dismissed the Aussie opener on the fourth delivery. Elaborating on the incident, Warner scuffled to play the pick up shot, but just got cramped and got stuck in the back of his thigh. Just in the meantime, the ball lobbed up and hit back onto the stumps, dislodging the bails.

However, David Warner tried to push the ball away, but he was just a little late in this attempt.
At the end of the fourth over, the Delhi Capitals scorecard read 30/1 with Jake Fraser-McGurk (6) and Prithvi Shaw (16) in the middle.
