The Rohit Sharma-led Team India are hosting England in the fourth Test of the five-match series in Ranchi. However, the series currently stands in favour of India with a 2-1 margin, the hosts fell short by 46 runs to take a considerable lead in ongoing Test in Ranchi.
For Team India, it was wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel who top-scored with a 149-ball 90. Despite missing his maiden Test ton by only 10 runs, Jurel celebrated his half-century which came in the 90th over of the India inning, bringing up a salute celebration. However, the cricketer kept a very low-key celebration but seemed like that he emulated this gesture, acknowledging his father.
The wicketkeeper-batter also raised his bat with skipper Rohit Sharma standing up and applauding the young batter from the dugout.
Speaking of Dhruv Jurel’s celebration, this gesture was a tribute to his father, a retired Havaldar, who served the nation during the Kargil war in 1999. He gestured this as a symbol of gratitude and respect to his father’s sacrifice and family’ contribution.
He’s the next MS Dhoni: Sunil Gavaskar
Former India cricketer and a legend, Sunil Gavaskar also heaped praise on Dhruv Jurel, calling him the next MS Dhoni. Gavaskar, who is part of commentary panel in the ongoing Test match in Ranchi, said, “Watching the presence of mind of Dhruv Jurel makes me think he’s the next MS Dhoni in the making”.
While the young wicketkeeper-batter scored 46 in Rajkot, he reached a gritty 50 to help India cross the 300-run mark in Ranchi.
