On Tuesday, April 1, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are taking on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their third match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. While LSG are coming off a win against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), PBKS are too riding high on confidence after they defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) in their tournament opener.
For the unversed, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. On the back of a 30-ball 44 from Nicholas Pooran and 33-ball 41 from Ayush Badoni, LSG posted 171/7 in 20 overs. During the 172-run chase, the Punjab-based franchise was handed their first blow with Digvesh Rathi sending youngster Priyansh Arya back to the pavilion.
Digvesh Rathi brings up pumped celebration after dismissing Priyansh Arya; gets warned
With Rishabh Pant introducing Digvesh Rathi into the attack to bowl the third over of PBKS inning, he got the first wicket of the day in Priyansh Arya. Rathi opted to bowl short outside off which the Punjab batter pulled up but got a thick edge. During his miscued shot, he got caught in the safe hands of Shardul Thakur. Soon after his dismissal, Rathi went upto the batter and gave a pumped up celebration.
Rathi ran towards Arya and emulated West Indies’ Kesrick Williams’ celebration as he signed something in his notebook. Seeing this, the umpire quickly turned towards the LSG bowler and warned him for his actions, which could potentially get him some fine.
