West Indies all-rounder Dominic Drakes who plays for Gulf Giants in the International League T20 suffered a scary injury during a match on Monday and was taken to the hospital immediately. Drakes took a blow on his face while taking a catch in his team’s match against Sharjah Warriors and looked in severe pain. The Giants’ cricketer had to be stretchered off the field and taken to the hospital.

In the 6th over of the Warriors' innings, Moeen Ali played a miscued pull and the ball lobbed in the air. Drakes came running in and dived to his front to take the catch. The Giants’ fielder managed to get a hold of the ball but his hands got stuck and he landed on his face. Drakes looked in immense pain as he could not move an inch.

Later, Giants’ Qais Ahmed was seen offering prayers on the ground for Drakes’ well-being. The cricketer was lauded for his gesture by the fans.

While a wait on Drake's health is still awaited, the players will be happy to know that his efforts did not go in vain. On the back of a terrific bowling performance from David Wiese (5/20) and some top-level stuff in fielding, Gulf Giants bowled out Sharjah Warriors for 107. The total was then easily chased down by their batters.
