Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez was seen taunting former teammate Mason Mount in the game against Manchester United. During the match, the Blues scored two goals to their account during the added time to turn the fortunes and claim a sounding 4-3 victory over their rivals at Stamford Bridge. The game also saw Mount making his first appearance in west London since he left to join United for $76 million in the summer.
While Mount’s decision to depart from the former club surprised many fans, several reports suggested that his aim wasn’t solely based on footballing reasons. The recent clash between Mount’s former team and current team put him in the limelight, and his former teammates taunted him. In a video doing rounds on X, Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez could be seen taunting the United player after the final whistle.
As seen in the clip, just after his post-match celebrations, Fernandez turned towards Mount and smacked the Chelsea badge on his chest. Not only this, but he also appeared to say something to the midfielder, which couldn’t be heard. Notably, Mount and Fernandez were teammates for half of the 2022-23 season. Coming back to the game, a Chelsea fan was seen with a 2021-22 edition of their home shirt which read ‘JUDAS 19’.
Mount made it to the game as a late substitute, when his side was leading the match, and was welcomed by boos from the Chelsea fans. After the game, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino said, “It was amazing. We were the better team today and it was fair we scored in the last minute. We started really well, 2-0, the game was under control, then we made a mistake and suffered an emotional impact. It wasn't easy to deal with. In the second half, we controlled the game (but) conceded in transitions.”
