The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is merely 50 days away, and with the biggest ICC event almost knocking on the doors, the proud hosts have pulled up their socks for the marquee event. The two-time world champions, India are set to host the ICC tournament which will commence on October 5 with the reigning champions England taking on 2019 runner up New Zealand in the season opener at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Before the highly anticipated tournament, the prestigious World Cup trophy was displayed at one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
The coveted silver trophy was on a display at the iconic Taj Mahal on August 16, Wednesday. In a picture posted on the official account of the International Cricket Council, the gleaming silverware was kept in front of the historical site Taj Mahal. ICC accompanied the picture with a caption, “50 days to go for #CWC23 🤩🏆”
Not only this, in a video posted by ANI, fans and officials could be seen getting clicked with the trophy. In what could be seen as an amalgamation of India’s rich historic and cricketing culture, the sight of the prestigious trophy in front of the Taj surely offered an exquisite spectacle for the fans.
Speaking of the tournament, the hosts will begin their campaign by taking on Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on October 8, Sunday. An expected mouth-watering clash between Pakistan and India has been rescheduled and will now be played on October 14 instead of October 15.
