After Mumbai Indians succumbed to a 31-run loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024, a clip went viral on social media wherein the fans were spotted throwing shoes and other objects at a screen projecting Hardik Pandya on video. Notably, the 30-year-old has drawn a lot of fan criticism after taking over the MI captaincy from Rohit Sharma.

During their contest against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Mumbai Indians conceded the highest total in the history of the IPL, giving away 277 runs. Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen scored fifties for SRH at a swashbuckling rate, obliterating the MI bowlers in the process.

In response, the opening batters of Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave a solid start to the team in pursuit of the 278-run target. Naman Dhir continued the good work before Tilak Varma took charge of the MI innings, scoring an enterprising fifty to keep his side firmly in the match.

But, after the fall of Tilak Varma’s wicket, Hardik Pandya was not unable to keep his foot on the accelerator for Mumbai Indians, scoring only 24 off 20 balls with a couple of boundaries. Despite the big hits at the back end of the innings from Tim David and Romario Shepherd, MI was able to reach 246/5 at the end.

Following this, Hardik Pandya appeared for a post-match interview in his capacity as the captain of Mumbai Indians. But, the moment the fans saw him on their projected screen, they threw shoes and any object in the near vicinity, showcasing their disgust at MI’s performance against SRH in Hyderabad.

Notably, in their next match, Mumbai Indians will be playing against Rajasthan Royals, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, on Monday, April 1.

Here is the clip of fans throwing slippers at screen projecting Hardik Pandya on video:
