Pakistan women’s cricket team captain, Fatima Sana broke down in tears on her return to the national squad for the match against New Zealand Women in Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the UAE. The Pakistan Women took on the Sophie Devine-led side in their final Group A match in the ongoing tournament, where they suffered 54-run defeat, thus ending their campaign along with putting an end to Team India’s run also.
During the do-or-die match for the Women in Green in the marquee tournament, their skipper Fatima Sana got emotional on her return following the tragic demise of her father. It is to be noted that the 22-year-old pacer missed the side’s previous match against Australia, with Muneeba Ali taking up the leadership role.

The Pakistan pacer was visibly moved during the national anthem ahead of the start of play at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Monday, October 14. She was unable to hold back the tears and video of this moment has been doing rounds on social media since then. Moreover, her gesture of rejoining the side despite the weight of the loss of her father, displayed immense professionalism and her dedication to play for her country.

Speaking of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, on Monday, October 14, Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian cricket team bowed out of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 after New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 54 runs in their final Group A match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India needed Pakistan to defeat New Zealand, to help them reach the semi-final of the tournament, but it wasn’t to be as the White Ferns capitulated with the bat while chasing a modest target of 111 runs.
