Cricket is getting more competitive with every passing day and the increased level of athleticism is what taking the game a notch higher. While cricketers at the international level continue to stun cricket fans, domestic cricketers are also producing breathtaking performances. European Cricket League is one such example that has kept producing unbelievable performances. While there are mainly clips showing the funny side of it, the latest video clip has sent fans in awe of a fielding effort.
A video shared by European Cricket is showing a fielder named Patrick Gouge who played for Farmers nailing a direct hit from near the boundary ropes. The clip starts with the batsman (Beveren's captain Hakim Khaksar) playing a lofted shot between long-on and long-off. Two fielders run in for the catch but collide with one of them even crossing the boundary ropes. However, the second fielder shows great presence of mind by picking up the ball and throwing it towards the wicketkeeper.
The ball perfectly lands before the stumps and hits them to find the batter short of his crease. The commentators as well as Patrick’s teammates were shocked at this effort. The commentators went it to call “the best bit of fielding ever”.

Talking about the result of the game, Farmer registered an emphatic victory by 34 runs as they bundled Beveren for 88 in 9.1 overs. While Nicolaj Laegsgaard (the other fielder in the video above) starred with the bat for the Farmers as he scored 81* off just 36 balls, Rhys Palmer (2/3) and Toby Britton (2/9) did the job with the ball in hand. Patrick Gouge, however, did not have a great outing with the bat as he was dismissed for 2(4).
