The Minnesota Vikings rookie Jordan Addison was charged on Thursday morning for speeding. The top draft pick allegedly drove 85 mph above the speed limit, reaching 140 mph in a 55 mph zone. The police pulled over Addison around 3 am and offered no resistance before being arrested. Addison was driving a Lamborghini Urus as footage of the speeding went viral once on social media, with fans reacting with disbelief at the young player’s reckless behaviour.

The police said that Addison was cooperating the whole time and that nothing was conclusive yet, instead stated that the investigation was ongoing. The Vikings released a statement addressing the situation. The video, viewed 700 thousand times on social media, shows grainy footage of the Lamborghini Urus being pursued through a freeway in St. Paul by Minnesota police. It ends with Police asking the player to step out of the vehicle.

Addison is likely to be crucial for the Vikings' season

Addison was the 23rd overall pick at the NFL draft in April. Across three seasons in Pittsburgh and at USC, he had 59 catches for 875 yards in 2022 for the Trojans. He will be a central part of the Vikings’ season behind Justin Jefferson. The Vikings have decided to focus their season on the combined firepower of Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and wide receiver K.J Osborn.

Osborn is given a more prominent role following the drafting of Addison to the team. Interestingly, Osborn was also involved in an automobile-related story earlier this year when he and a group rescued a man from a recently crashed car which caught on fire. Addison’s story is much less flattering, and he will hope it won’t put a damper on an otherwise promising career in the NFL.
