A recent Primera B match in Chile between Deportes Recoleta and Deportes Temuco was halted temporarily after a 5.6 magnitude earthquake began suddenly . The match took place in the heart of the country, in the Metropolitan Region of Santiago. Near the end of the first half the earthquake forced the match to halt for a minute or so while it passed. Interestingly, the event was captured completely by TNT Sports’ coverage of the match.

The video surprisingly shows that play actually continued for the majority of the earthquake, only halting momentarily after it had passed. After the ball goes out of play, the players seem confused about what exactly they should do next. In an amusing twist, both the football pitch and the studio where the commentators were covering the match were affected by the earthquake, resulting in some moments of disorder.

"The court moves, the cameras move because the tremor begins. Right now it's already a bit strong, everything moved here in the studio," said commentator Rocío Ayala during the broadcast of TNT Sports.
