The Singapore-based gaming developer, Garena has returned to India with their popular online battle royale game, Free Fire India. While Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni has been named as their new brand ambassador, the game has recently teased the former Indian skipper's playable character in the game, "Thala".
Apart from Dhoni, Free Fire India has roped in some of the biggest athletes in India, including the likes of Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri, badminton star Saina Nehwal, tennis legend Leander Paes, and kabaddi superstar Rahul Chaudhari.
After serving a long ban by the Government of India on February 14, 2022, as part of a crackdown on China-based apps, Free Fire India is scheduled to relaunch in the Indian markets on September 5, as per the official announcement. They also announced that the pre-register for the battle royale is now open for gamers on the Google Play Store and the App Store.
Recently, a video has been doing rounds on social media platforms that showed a cricket player, who is likely to be MS Dhoni, transitioning into a gaming character and beating his opponent with the bat. The video begins with a narration, "We all know, Legends never sleep for long."
