South Africa’s Gerald Coetzee walked off without reviewing his dismissal during their semi-final clash against Australia in CWC'23. Temba Bavuma-led side took on the five-time champions in the second semi-final clash of the season. Bavuma won the toss and invited his rivals to field first. The Proteas clearly failed to deliver a good show with the bat as the openers as well as skipper were forced to return to the pavilion on small scores.

In the 44th over of their innings, Proteas’ cricketer Coetzee was given out for the caught behind and he straightway walked to the pavilion. There was some discussion between him, and David Miller and they decided against the DRS before the 23-year-old went away from the pitch. However, the replays showed that the ball had not clipped Coetzee’s gloves and it just brushed his arm.

Coetzee played a crucial inning for his side after joining Miller at the crease when they were at 119 at the loss of six wickets. They played a partnership of 53 runs, which helped them get past the 200-run mark. The wicket blunder took social media to storm, and fans reacted to the same. 

Notably, India have made it to the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023, and one of South Africa and Australia are slated to lock horns with them in the summit clash on November 19.
