Milwaukee Bucks star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a career-high 64 points against the Indiana Pacers early on Thursday (IST) and opponents along with the star player did not seem to be happy about how things unfolded thereafter. The Nigerian-Greek NBA player, who hit 58 points for his career high and also surpass the Bucks record of 57, made an exit with 3:24 left in the fourth quarter.
Just at that moment the Bucks were 19 points up with the Pacers cutting the deficit to 10, the 29-year-old took the court with 2:02 remaining. From here on, Giannis scored six more points to get to his 64, closing the game 140-126 in favour of the Bucks. Soon after a bizarre scene unfolded as Giannis was seen chasing into the tunnel towards Pacers’ locker room.
It seemed that the Pacers coach, Rick Carlisle took the game ball, which is usually awarded to the rookie player. According to Chris Haynes, the Pacers claimed that they wanted the ball for their rookie, Oscar Tsiebwe, who scored his first NBA points in the Bucks vs Pacers game.
Thereafter, Giannis returned from the tunnel, heading towards some of the players which even involved the upcoming star player, Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton. The two players were also involved in a heated argument as drama unfolded outside. However, as per Chris Haynes, Bucks security was able to retrieve the game ball for Giannis.
Giannis on game ball:
Speaking at the post-match presser, Giannis confirmed that he has go a ball, but is not sure whether it is the game ball or not. “I have a ball, but I don’t know if it’s the game ball. It doesn’t feel like a game ball to me,” Antetokounmpo said. “It feels like a brand-new ball. I can tell. I played 35 minutes today. I know how the game ball felt. The ball I have, which I’ll take and I’ll give it to my mom for sure, but I don’t know if it’s actually the game ball,” he added.
