For the unversed, Heather Knight, the captain of England, won the toss and chose to bat first under tough batting conditions after they had secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. But, in the third T20I, Renuka Thakur castled Maia Bouicher on her first ball of the innings to give India the perfect start in the first over.

The Indian bowlers, including the likes of Renuka Thakur, Saika Ishaque, Amanjot Kaur, and Shreyanka Patil kept on picking regular wickets, reducing England to 76-8 in the 15th over of the innings. But, just an over later, Harmanpreet Kaur, who was running towards the ball to pick it up, had her left boot stuck into the ground in an innocuous moment before stumbling down to clutch at her left ankle.
