After Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty for Portugal against Slovenia in the UEFA Euro 2024 round of 16 clash, IShowSpeed, the American online streamer, was shell-shocked at the stunning turn of events. The 19-year-old was watching the match on a giant screen alongside thousands of people outside the Waldstadion in Frankfurt, and when the moment happened, he didn’t utter a single word out of his mouth for a few seconds.
Cristiano Ronaldo had a frustrating night in front of the Slovenian goal, failing to convert chances to put the game to bed for Portugal. The biggest moment in the round of 16 clash came in the first half of extra time when the 39-year-old was unable to slot a penalty in the back of the net against Jan Oblak, which left him in tears.
On the other side, IShowSpeed was in disbelief at the penalty miss from Cristiano Ronaldo before saying, “I have never in my life seen him miss a penalty! I have never in my life seen him miss a penalty. Wallahi!,” on his live stream .
But fortunately, Cristiano Ronaldo got a chance to redeem himself in the penalty shootout, where he managed to beat Jan Oblak in the Slovenian goal, to put Portugal in the lead before two of his teammates also converted their penalties. Diogo Costa in the Portuguese goal saved three penalties in a row from the Slovenian players to ensure that the team made it through to the next round of the UEFA Euro 2024 with a 3-0 margin after 0-0 scoreline at the end of extra time.
Portugal will be playing next in the quarter-final against France at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.
