Indian captain Rohit Sharma wasn’t in a mood to let bygones be bygones as he told Marnus Labuschagne to not run onto the pitch multiple times on day one of the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The incident happened when Australians were in control of the contest after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, which had made Rohit Sharma quite frustrated towards Marnus Labuschagne.

After Rohit Sharma warned Marnus Labuschagne not once, but twice about not running onto the pitch at the MCG, the Australian batter did it for the first third. This led to the Indian captain having a stern word with Marnus Labuschagne, pointing finger at him about not trying to scuff up the danger area of the pitch as the umpire watched on from a short distance, letting both experienced cricketers settle the matter on their own terms.

Marnus Labuschagne didn’t let the incident affect him adversely as went on his merry way with the bat, managing to bring up his second half century of the ongoing BGT Test series. At the fall of his wicket for 72 off 145, Australia were 237/3 before they lost the likes of Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh in quick succession after fifties from openers Usman Khawaja and Sam Konstas, who is also on debut.

As of this writing, Steve Smith 63* off 85 is at the crease alongside Alex Carey 19* off 23 with the Australian score reading 282/5 in 76 overs.
