India batter Jemimah Rodrigues posed with her fans after the team registered a historic win against Australia. India Women beat their Australian counterparts by eight wickets and recorded their first-ever win over the Aussies. Rodrigues played a crucial role in helping her side successfully chase the big total and begin the multi-format series on a dreamy note. India batters and bowers put in a collective effort to guide the side to a second consecutive Test win; first over England, later over Australia.
Rodrigues scored 73 runs off 121 balls in the second inning and remained not out in the fourth against Alyssa Healy-led women. After the match, the 23-year-old batter posed with her fans and thanked them for their constant support. Jemimah posted a selfie video and picture with her fans on her social media. Rodrigues accompanied them with a caption, “Coming everyday for the test match even before the first ball could be bowled and till the end of the day nonstop cheering with their world-class chants!! My fraands here are the BEST”.
She went on to say, “THANK YOU GUYS FOR HAVING OUR BACK!!!” After the match, she said, “Even before the domestic season could start, I had set a few goals and one of them was to be consistent. If I can score consistently, my team can go and win, whether it's for Mumbai or India. I keep working hard, don't think too much about results, I had to be consistent with my process. Once you are consistent there, results automatically follow. It's always nice walking in. It was around this time last year I walked in with no scores and didn't have a great series.”
She added, “It was around this time last year I walked in with no scores and didn't have a great series. This time, I had lot of scores backing me and I just went with the confidence. They have inspired me a lot now to bowl. On these wickets there's turn and bounce, I'm from Mumbai, wish I could have contributed a little more but I said I'll leave it for the bowlers.”
