England fast bowler Jofra Archer, who has been out of professional cricket for the last year, bowled for KSCA XI as a substitute against his team Sussex on Friday, March 15, ahead of the much-anticipated T20 World Cup in America and West Indies. Sussex County Club, during their 10-day training camp in Alur, took on Karnataka's KSCA XI for a two-day practice game.
The Sussex team is accompanied by another English county club, Lancashire who is also in Alur for a training camp ahead of their upcoming county season. Both teams are set to play a couple of practice games before they fly back home for a rigorous county season.
Jofra Archer returns to action ahead of T20 World Cup 2024
Jofra Archer, who hasn’t played any competitive game since turning up for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023, played as a substitute bowler for the local side Karnataka team and looked in good rhythm in his short spell. In his spell, he picked up two wickets which included a stunning clean-bowled, where the stumps were uprooted.
The return of Jofra Archer will provide ECB to keep the 2019 World Cup winner in contention for the T20 World Cup squad. The teams have to submit their squad to the ICC on May 1 and they can make modifications by May 25.
