In a bizarre turn of events, St Lucia Kings opener Johnson Charles almost got out while attempting a scoop shot during the ongoing Caribbean Premier League. The T20 league which is underway in the Caribbean nation, saw a bizarre incident during the match between St Lucia Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders.

 

The incident took place on the fourth delivery of the 12 th  over of the St Lucia innings as Bravo went for a full toss. Charles, who was batting at 31* tried to pull off a scoop shot off Dwayne Bravo, but the ball hit his helmet and knocked it down. However, with great awareness, Charles’ knick prevented his helmet to hit the stumps by a few inches, surviving a wicket as well as a serious injury.

The 34-year-old was checked by the physios and was deemed fit to resume his innings in the middle. The West Indian cricketer scored 37 off 31 deliveries, with his innings being laced with three sixes and a lone boundary.

 

Talking about the match, the Trinbago Knight Riders won the toss and invited Saint Lucia Kings to bat first. The Faf du Plessis-led side put up 167/5 in their 20 overs, courtesy captain knock of 57 from 36 balls. The Kings later restricted the Knight Riders to 113/4, courtesy a 4/20 from Khary Pierre.
