sportstiger wi vs nepal

The qualifiers of the ODI World Cup 2023 are underway, and on June 22, Thursday, Nepal took on West Indies at the Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe. Nepal’s skipper Rohit Paudel won the toss and invited their rivals to bat first. In return, the West Indies team posted a magnificent score of 339 at the loss of seven wickets for their rivals to chase.

Apart from putting up a great batting show, the West Indies bowlers successfully tore apart Nepal’s batting lineup. The exemplary bowling and fielding skills shown by West Indies bowlers, especially Keacy Carty helped Indies gain the momentum of the match in their favour.

In the 22nd over, Kushal Malla was batting on 2, and the team was already overcoming the loss of five batters with just 92 runs in their account. As Akal Hosein came to deliver, Malla went for the slog sweep, which went towards deep mid-wicket. As Keacy Carty took the catch, he realised that the ball was going over the ropes. Carty, showing his brilliant presence of mind, threw the ball up in the air on the move, stepped out, and took a brilliant catch, dismissing Mella.

Despite a powerful show put up by Aarif Sheikh of 63 runs off 93 deliveries, with a combination of four fours and one maximum, Nepal slumped to their rivals by a notable margin of 101 runs. On the flip side, the winning team rode on the brilliant knock by the skipper Shai Hope's 132 runs and Nicholas Pooran's 115 runs to put up a whopping target for the Rohit Paudel side.
