After losing the second T20I against South Africa, Team India kick-started the third T20I with a brisk start as openers Yashashvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill combined for 29 runs in the first two overs. However, Proteas skipper Aiden Markram brought in left-arm orthodox spinner Keshav Maharaj, who helped the home side bounce back in the game with his two wickets in two back-to-back deliveries.

Keshav Maharaj dismissed Shubman Gill on his second delivery as South Africa got the first breakthrough in the third over. Maharaj beat Gill with the ball hitting the Indian opener's front leg in front of the wickets while he missed on a conventional sweep.

On the next delivery, Tilak Varma was trapped by Maharaj on a golden duck as the 21-year-old went off on the first ball, however, struck the ball toward skipper Aiden Markram on the wide mid-off.

Despite two early losses, Team India managed to keep their composure as skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Jaiswal helped the Men in Blue reach 62 runs in the powerplay at a loss of two wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed his third T20I fifty in just 34 balls as India crossed the 100-run mark in 12 overs.
