On Friday, March 29, Rajasthan Royals shared a video on their official X account to formally introduce their newest IPL 2024 signing Keshav Maharaj, who was draped in the traditional Rajasthani attire of pagdi and Jodhpuri suit. The South African spinner, who was training with Lucknow Super Giants recently, has replaced Prasidh Krishna in the Rajasthan Royals squad.

Notably, Prasidh Krishna was ruled out of the IPL 2024 due to an injury on his left proximal quadriceps tendon, for which he had undergone surgery last month. As per the BCCI statement, the Indian fast bowler is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team, following which he will resume his rehab at the National Cricket Academy.

Rajasthan Royals had the option of bringing in one more overseas player to their IPL 2024 squad after replacing the Australian leg spinner Adam Zampa, who had opted out of the tournament, with the uncapped Indian off-spinner Tanush Kotian. It led to the RR management deciding to bring the South African Keshav Maharaj to the fold, who could prove to be quite a handful if the pitches at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur start to wear down.

Keshav Mahara,j 34, who is signed as a player for the first time in the IPL, will be adding to the quality and experience in the Rajasthan Royals bowling lineup, which includes players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Trent Boult. In his T20 career, he has played 159 matches, picking up 130 wickets, with a splendid economy of 6.89.

Furthermore, RR have signed Keshav Maharaj on his base price of ₹50 lakh.
